Accelerated Reader

The Northgate School District and Avalon Elementary School use the Accelerated Reader Computerized Reading Management System to supplement and enhance its reading curriculum.  Students in grades 1-6 have the opportunity to read a wide range of books and novels from various genres and  then have the opportunity to take computerized tests covering the stories and information they have read.  The students are awarded points for successfully passing a test. 

Accelerated Reader is created by Renaissance Learning and has "helped teachers motivate students to dramatically increase literature-based reading practice."  For more information on this program, please visit the site: What is Accelerated Reader?
