Northgate Golf Team finished the 2013 season with a 7-5 section record! Go Flames
Boys Basketball
Springdale TipOff Champs

The boys basketball team won the Springdale Tipoff Tournament with a 62-57 win over Valley High School. Taymon Russell was named to the all-tournament team and Dylan Muller was named Most Valuable Player of the Tournament. The boys have their first home game Friday, December 14th vs. Southside Beaver."

Cross Country Re-Cap

Boys Cross Country TeamThe Northgate Girls Cross Country team finished the regular season 13th out of 34 single-A schools in the WPIAL. The team had two girls finish high enough to qualify for the PIAA Cross Country Championship meet, with Lilly Hall placing 5th overall and Paige Baierl finishing 18th overall in the WPIAL. At the PIAA Championship meet in Hershey, out of 206 runners, Lilly placed 37th overall in the state single-A race, and Paige finished 126th.

Cross CountryThe Northgate Boys Cross Country team finished the regular season 3rd out of 32 single-A schools in the WPIAL. Led by a 4th place finish by senior Jonathan Gusew, the team consisting of Justin Jones, Eric Forkin, Thane Bonnett, Tyler Wisniewski, Dominic Deramo and Sal Valeriano all qualified for the PIAA Cross Country Championship meet. At the PIAA Championship meet, the boys team finished as the 11th-best team in the state, with Jonathan Gusew placing 26th overall.

Congratulations to both the boys and girls cross country teams for yet another highly successful season and showing all of Pennsylvania that Northgate has some of the best runners in the state.

Golf Team

The golf team finished the season at 12-4 overall and 9-3 in the section.  The team made it to the team playoffs for this season.

Wrestling 2012-2013 Season

Over the holiday break the wrestling team competed in the Steve DeAugustino Holiday classic wrestling tournament. There were over 30 teams represented, and Avonworth had one place winner in Wes Bartholomew at the 138 pound weight. Wes placed 4th in the tournament and currently has an 11-5 record. We also got news this morning that Wes is also currently ranked 5th in the AA WPIAL rankings. This is a huge accomplishment for a 10th grader. Congratulations to Wes for his hard work and success.

Wrestling 2011-12 Post Season Honors   
Darion Trimmer

Freshman Wrestler Darion Trimmer just recently received the honor of being selected to be the WPIALs Northern area Freshman wrestler of the year for the 2011-2012 season. Darion posted 24 victories this past season wrestling in one of the most difficult weight classes in high school wrestling. Darion is on Track to become the second Avonworth/ Northgate wrestler with 100 career victories. Darion along the 4 other freshman wrestlers Wes Bartholomew, Jesron Hall, Cameron Kosak, and Brandon Wasko look to improve on last year’s performance by being more competitive in the section, district and state competitions.

Congratulations Darion for a well-deserved honor.
